(Español en comentarios) Some days I wake up and feel like I can take on the world. Other days I can barely get out of bed, and the idea of simply looking at myself in the mirror is painful. Not every day will be colorful and- in order to find my peace- I’ve learned to accept this and use all the tools within me to go back to my center. There are many factors that affect our mood and the way we view life. Our thoughts, diet, exercise, work, family, friends, health, the moon, daily habits, and even the way we dress. We are HUMANS sensitive to EVERYTHING. Our own energy and others. Understanding this and not being hard on myself has been my most powerful medicine. For all those that need to hear this, here are some words I wrote a while ago for grey days: 🌺Feel the sadness kicking in? The low vibrations and empty thoughts taking over? Get up and move! Barefoot or with shoes on. I don’t care if you break into ecstatic dance in the middle of your bedroom, or if you go out for a run that will make your fears eat dust. Do something. Flow on your mat, cook, paint, write, clean, read, sing, play. For crying out loud, squad if that makes you smile! Do whatever makes you laugh again. Whatever makes you come back to life again. But please, do not waist one more second giving yourself excuses that tame your essence guilt-free. Don’t silence your uniqueness. Instead, get lost in it. It’s ok! The only way to discover what you are truly made of is by creating space for those qualities to fly free. An uncaged chance for them to spark. And once they do (for they will!), let them consume you entirely so you can finally discover how wonderful it feels to dance fearlessly through life with a light that illuminates places and people. Did you know almond milk is the least sustainable vegan milk? The rise in demand for almond milk has put our land, water and bees at risk! I explain more in this video and the reason why I find oat milk to be the most ethical and earth-friendly alternative. (Cow’s milk does not even play a role here! ❌🙅🏽‍♀️) The oat production uses less water, does not need pollinators, AND oat milk tastes delicious! Super easy to make at home too! (Español 👇👇) Markets. The economy. Our future. All are driven by consumption. OUR consumption. Let’s be honest! There are too many humans on this planet for our natural resources. We are overpopulated, as research shows. The scariest part? These numbers are estimated to continue to grow; reaching over 9.7 billion humans by 2050. Every dollar we spend, every brand we support, every president we elect, every decision we make on the daily, and every word we share on social media HAS A TREMENDOUS POWER. They can keep poisoning our world or begin to undo our many wrongs. Starting with the second most polluting industry after oil: fashion. How about we stop supporting fast fashion brands that contaminate our rivers, exploit our people, and produce illogical amounts of waste? You know what brands I’m taking about! If a t-shirt costs less than $10, has been dyed with chemicals, and made with materials that are not earth-friendly, someone is taking the fall for that cost: Nature and the hands that made the product! Solutions: responsible consumption! 1️⃣Second-hand shopping: You won’t believe the incredible thrift stores around the world! My vegan belt is second-hand. 2️⃣Fair-trade and sustainable brands: support those brands using good materials and following strict practices that protect workers. My jeans are from @eticadenim, and the bodysuit/yoga wear/swimpiece (multiple uses) from @girlfriend, and my zero-waste jewelry from @this.lwc. 3️⃣REUSE! Don’t throw away things that break. Fix them. Don’t throw away things you don’t use. Swap with friends, or gift to those who actually need them! These vegan heels I’ve owned for years. Yes, they are made of PVC (didn’t know of its impact when I got them) but I’ll use them for many years to come! For those who don’t know, most vegan leather is made of plastic which is derived from petroleum, unless they are made from 🍎, 🍌, cork, 🍍, 🍄 or 🌳 rubber. Yes, they exist! 4️⃣RESEARCH! PLEASE! Stop being a robot and become more human. Read labels, investigate, and teach those around you! (Español en comentarios y ➡️) Let’s talk veganism for a second, ok? I know most people run away, swipe left or put the phone down the minute they spot the word “vegan”. I get you! We’ve unfortunately given “veganism” a bad rep, especially on social media, because some people forgot that we CAN’T change mindsets by force (nor with judgment). We can only guide people towards a more conscious lifestyle by being the example. The inspiration. I’m the only vegan in my family. Plantbased for nearly a decade. How did we find peace among our different mentalities? They accept my lifestyle choices, and I accept theirs! And, whenever they have questions, I’m here. An open book with a big smile. That’s the key. Inspire rather than scare people away! Veganism is not easy but it is also NOT impossible. It’s a commitment! Like anything worth it in life, you put all your energy and patience into it. It is a learning process, and being informed is CRUCIAL to your health, diet, lifestyle and happiness! Good morning! Bed still on the floor but my new eco home is getting there! Little by little. As sustainable and fair-trade as possible, including the bedsheets! 😍♻️🏡 My sleep and health are precious and so is our planet, therefore, I chose bedsheets and a duvet cover made with natural fibers and without the toxic chemicals of ordinary bed products. This set right here is made of linen; one of the most sustainable fabrics since the flax plant needs little to no water to grow and can be used entirely, creating no waste! Where to get it?
