Just over a year ago, Leandra Medine — founder of the now-defunct fashion blog Man Repeller — stepped down from her position at the site’s helm. Last year, like many brands, Man Repeller posted a statement of allyship, only to find itself facing allegations of a toxic corporate environment that pushed out employees of color. Medine announced her resignation on Instagram a few days later, writing that her “ignorance is part of the problem.” As a new interview with designer Recho Omondi (@omndi) makes clear, not much seems to have changed on that front. Leandra Medine said the revelation of her wealth came to her only recently, saying, “I remember sitting in the car, thinking to myself, I did not grow up poor,” she recalled. “I actually grew up rich … I had everything.” The Upper East Side childhood, private school education, and second house in the Hamptons sounds like a dead giveaway of one's financial status but ... that's just us. Anyway, head to the link in our bio for the full story.

Well … they’re here! The SATC ten-episode reboot “And Just Like That…” has begun filming and once again we are going to pretend that Samantha took this photo. That’s why she’s not in it. No other reason…

The best part of Wimbledon? Well … the tennis probably. The second best part might be the reactions from notable spectators. Tag yourself, we’re somewhere between stressed Hugh Grant, Dapper Cumberbatch, and screaming Sienna Miller. Photos: @gettyimages

Big handsome man aka Adam Driver, has once again let us — his loyal and horny congregants — know that his talent is unmatched. The man can sing, dance, act, and, according to his "Annette” co-star Marion Cotillard, he can also sing while performing (simulated) cunnilingus at the same time. A little spicy for a 9 AM post, we know, but oh my god ?? What can't this man do? In addition to the cunnilingus-singing stuff, Cotillard said that the film’s characters participate in various other intimate things, such as “sexual tickling.” While we’re not yet sure of the exact plot of this musical we are willing to follow it wherever it wants to take us. Do you have a cold right now? In a world that is approaching — very slowly, we might add — a post COVID status, how are we to deal with the common cold. Writer @KatieHeaney has a cold. A considerable amount of her friends and co-workers have colds. She shares that, "somehow this cold feels uniquely unpleasant, even if this is something we used to deal with once or twice a year." To find out whether there really is anything special about the cold(s) going around now, or whether we’re just a bunch of big babies, Katie spoke to Darvin Scott Smith, an infectious-disease physician at Kaiser Permanente, and Bernard Camins, the medical director for infection prevention at the Mount Sinai Health System. Head to the link in our bio for the full story.

For as much progress being made — and attempting to be made — in both acknowledging and atoning for our country’s racist past and present, the Olympics are only doubling down on antiquated, anti-Black rules. Two weeks after her win made her the fastest woman in the country, Sha’Carri Richardson was suspended and removed from the U.S. team after using marijuana after learning of her biological mother’s death from a reporter while in Oregon, where weed is legal. Richardson isn’t the only Black female athlete who’s been barred from participating in the Olympics this year. Despite qualifying for her second Olympic team last month, 2016 100-meter hurdles champion Brianna McNeal won’t be headed to Tokyo. In January 2020 she missed a drug test because she was in bed recovering from an abortion she received two days prior. The list goes on. Last week, the International Swimming Federation banned Soul Cap — a swim cap designed for Black swimmers with thick, natural hair — for use in the 2021 Olympic Games. The Olympics time and time again prove to be operating on a narrow idea of what an Olympic body should and can be. Head to the #linkinbio for more on how rigid and outdated regulations rooted in racism are hurting, abandoning, and failing Black athletes.

From the very first episode it's clear that "Physical" takes an unflinching and unlikable look at eating disorders. Sheila, Rose Byrne's character, captures the battle between restraint and loss of control that encapsulates many eating disorders. Set in San Diego in the 1980s, the show follows Sheila as she grapples for power — with her husband, her child, her estranged parents, and her body. Eating disorders affect at least 9 percent of the population in the U.S., although the number of undiagnosed people struggling with disordered eating is likely far higher. All types of eating disorders are far more common in women than men, and they are rarely as straightforward as we see on-screen. Binge-eating disorder, which Sheila exhibits symptoms of but the show does not name, is likely the most prevalent disorder and rarely shown. Head to the link in our bio to read the full story.

Please join in watching the moment Zaila Avant-garde won this year's Scripps National Spelling Bee over and over again. The 14-year-old made history yesterday by becoming the competition's first Black American winner. Look at her joy. Her twirl. She is the moment.

Mary Imevbore (@marymevs) fell in love with wearing wigs in college, especially as a protective style. However, upon really getting into wigs she found that the experience of shopping for them to be pretty bleak. There's endless vendors, endless shady reviews to sort through, and no obvious brand to buy from. So, along with her two best friends, Imevbore founded @thewaeve. “My co-founders Susana and Tiiso and I came together to create a wig company that we’d want to shop from. What keeps us going is our mission to uplift and bring joy to Black women. We’ve been long overlooked as consumers in the beauty space, and Waeve is about reclaiming our agency and taking up space.” At the link in our bio, we spoke with Imevbore about her favorite hairstyles, bedroom fashion shows, and the hot-pink Nicki Minaj Crocs.

In a new essay 23-year-old tennis star Naomi Osaka opened up about her mental health, sharing some of the issues that led her to step away from the court and some of the people who have helped her get back on. “In the past few weeks, my journey took an unexpected path but one that has taught me so much and helped me grow,” Osaka writes, alluding to her recent withdrawal from the French Open and Wimbledon after posting about her experience with depression and anxiety on Instagram. Head to the link in our bio for all of what she said and remember that athletes are human. Naomi, take as much time as you need.

This week on The Cut, Lux Alptraum, the host of Tabloid, takes over to introduce the podcast’s new, second season. In it, she reexamines the infamous Tommy Lee and Pamela Anderson sex tape from 1998, and how today, with the overnight virality of memes social media leaves us all vulnerable to having our most private moments displayed for everyone to see, whether we mean for it to happen or not. In this, the first episode, she introduces Pam and Tommy as a couple — fights, jealousy, swimsuit beepers, and all. Head to the link in our bio to hear more about the culture of celebrity sex tapes and the genesis of Pam and Tommy’s love story, and listen to the first episode for free and subscribe Apple Podcasts for more.

On this week’s #WhyIsYourSkinSoGood, @daisebedolla talks to Jhoanna Marissa (@jmarissa), the founder of @WillaCreative. If you look at a photo of her long enough, you might recognize her from her roles in soaps, shows, and movies like The Young and Restless, Greek, and Gotta Kick It Up. She shared with us, “I mostly stopped acting after Gotta Kick It Up because of my insecurities with my skin and my body.” During the height of her difficulties with her skin, doctors offered harsh solutions that didn’t actually help. Now she sticks to a “basic” approach that prioritizes her overall health and a few staple products. Head to the #linkinbio for a deep dive into the products Jhoanna uses, including the probiotic she tells all of her friends about, the sunscreen that gives her a dewy look, and the expensive eye cream she swears is worth every penny.
