During the festive holidays with many yummy meals being served, many of us begin to worry about how much and what they have eaten 🍱 Over the winter season we usually see more carb-heavy meals. Let's get to the bottom of it.   One of the most common beliefs about carbohydrates, such as pasta and bread, is that they promote weight gain. It is often believed that in order to lose weight one must reduce carbohydrate intake overall, but this is actually a serious mistake.   ✅In fact, it is absolutely wrong to demonize carbohydrates. However, it is necessary to distinguish between simple sugars (which should be consumed in moderation) and complex sugars found in carbohydrates. There are no foods that will make you gain or lose fat: all foods should be consumed in the right proportions, as part of a healthy and balanced diet.   Carbohydrates consumed at dinner contribute to weight gain - FALSE. It does not matter what time of day we eat carbohydrates, but we rather need to pay attention to the amount of carbohydrates consumed daily and the total number of calories in your diet 🍲   This myth is based on the mistaken belief that if carbohydrates are consumed before bedtime, they are more likely to turn into fat in the absence of subsequent physical activity. In fact, consuming energy while sleeping is not much different from any other sedentary activity that can be done during the day. In addition, dinner, which also includes carbohydrates, promotes nighttime rest by stimulating the production of serotonin, the hormone of happiness.   A low-carb diet promotes weight loss - FALSE. ⏬ A balanced diet that helps maintain health should provide sufficient carbohydrates, with a predominance of complex and whole carbohydrates. According to the major scientific nutrition communities, carbohydrates should make up at least 50-55% of the calories consumed.   So the main thing to remember is: there has to be a balance in every aspect of life!
