✨Encouragement VS Criticism ✨
A few days ago I did something I never thought I’d do, ever! I JUMPED OFF A WATERFALL! (swipe for the video!) I had just experienced an amazing journey to the top of Koko Head Trail (see two photos back) and was ENCOURAGED the entire way through the tough hike, while I was shaking from my fear of heights. I felt brave, accomplished, and like I could do it again! I wasn’t met with loud signs & an under the breath statement about how “it’s not even scary” when I said I was afraid, instead I was met with “you got this! You’ll be alright, I’ve got you, I’m right here.” The assurance I needed to make it to the top of a mountain. And you know what that did? It helped me believe more in my ability to conquer my fears next time I was faced with them. Sure I was shaking like a leaf and almost didn’t jump at the waterfall, but I did end up doing it and for that I’m proud!! How we treat others effects them - for more than just that moment; so take a step back next time you’re presented with an opportunity to ENCOURAGE someone, and make sure you’re not criticizing them, because a little encouragement can go a long way! I realized that I sometimes get these two things confused, unintentionally, because I’m in a rush, or am not fully paying attention but I’m working to change that in my end too!
